Getting Started
Apex helps you build a consistent push-up habit by counting repetitions with your iPhone camera and keeping your progress in one place.
What you need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
an iPhone with Apex installed;
enough clear floor space to perform push-ups safely;
a stable place for your phone; and
sufficient lighting for the camera to see your movement.
Create or access your account
Open Apex.
Choose Continue with Apple, Continue with Google, or Continue with email.
Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in or create an account.
Complete the essential profile details requested by the App.
If you use email and forget your password, select Forgot password on the sign-in screen. Apex will send you a verification code so you can create a new password.
Choose optional connections
During setup, Apex may ask whether you want to connect Apple Health or enable notifications. These features are optional.
Connect Apple Health only if you want Apex to use the categories shown in the permission request.
Enable notifications if you want workout reminders and other requested updates.
You can change these permissions later in Apex or iOS Settings.
Allow camera access
Camera access is required for automatic repetition counting.
When Apex displays the camera permission screen, tap Allow Camera Access.
Confirm the iOS permission request.
Follow the phone-placement guide before starting your first workout.
Apex processes the camera feed on your device in real time. It does not record or upload video or photos. For more information, read the Apex Privacy Policy.
Start your first workout
From Home, tap Start workout.
Place your phone as shown in the camera guide.
Move into the indicated position and wait for Apex to detect you.
Complete the countdown.
Begin your push-ups and let Apex count each completed repetition.
End the workout when you are finished, then review your results.
For detailed instructions, see How to Complete a Camera-Tracked Workout.
A quick safety reminder
Place your phone securely where it will not slide or create a trip hazard. Exercise within your ability, use proper form, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, or other concerning symptoms.
