Camera Tracked Workout
How to Complete a Camera-Tracked Workout
Apex uses your iPhone camera to detect movement and count push-ups automatically. A good phone position and clear lighting help produce the most reliable count.
Before you start
Clear enough space to exercise safely.
Place your phone on a stable surface near floor level.
Make sure the camera lens is clean and unobstructed.
Use a well-lit area and avoid strong light directly behind you.
Keep other people outside the camera view where possible.
Start the workout
Open Apex and tap Start workout.
Review the placement guide shown on screen.
Position the phone so the camera has a clear side view of your movement.
Move into the workout area.
Wait for Apex to confirm that you have been detected.
Hold your position during the countdown, then begin.
During the workout
The workout screen shows your current set, total push-ups, workout time, and camera preview.
Perform each repetition with a controlled, complete movement.
Stay inside the camera frame throughout the set.
Use Pause if you need to stop temporarily.
Select New set when you are ready to continue with another set.
Select End workout when your session is complete.
The repetition count is an estimate and may occasionally be inaccurate. Do not change your form or continue exercising unsafely just to make the counter register a repetition.
Review your result
After ending the workout, Apex shows a summary that may include:
total push-ups;
number of sets;
workout duration; and
estimated calories.
Confirm the result, then return to Home. Your completed workout contributes to your progress, history, streaks, achievements, and active challenge progress where applicable.
If Apex stops detecting you
Pause the workout if it is safe to do so, then check that:
your full movement remains visible;
the phone has not moved;
the room is bright enough;
the camera lens is not covered; and
no other person is interfering with detection.
Reposition the phone or yourself and try again. For more help, see Fix Camera Tracking Problems.
Camera privacy
Camera frames are processed temporarily on your device while a tracked workout is active. Apex does not save or upload the camera feed. See the Apex Privacy Policy for details.
